Rupa is a Partner in the Firm's Chennai Office. Her practice areas include corporate and commercial laws, regulations dealing with foreign investment in India and labour and employment matters.
Rupa has assisted several multinational companies in setting up business operations in India. She has rendered extensive advice on joint venture transactions including advice on adequate protections that should be taken by joint venture partners and on handling disputes between joint venture partners. One of Rupa's primary focus areas is foreign investment and exchange control regulations and she has advised many multinational clients operating in a wide variety of business sectors on structuring their investments into India, and assisted them with obtaining relevant regulatory and foreign investment approvals.
Rupa has also handled several real estate transactions including drafting of relevant legal documentation in relation to property transfers. She also has considerable experience in labour and employment related matters. She has drafted various corporate & commercial contracts ranging from plain vanilla commercial agreements such as agency agreements and service provider agreements to the more complex infrastructure project contracts, private equity contracts and so on.
She has authored several articles for leading newspapers and legal books.
